Job Description

The Childhood Program Coordinator position at WMS blends managerial administrative functions with hands-on childcare, to ensure the effective functioning of the School and strict adherence to the Montessori philosophy. The Coordinator is expected to:
• Develop and Implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children ages 18 months to 5 years, in keeping with the Montessori philosophy.
• Supervise and manage staff, trainees and/or volunteers
• Plan, develop, schedule, and/or provide in service training and evaluation of faculty
• Order supplies and equipment
• Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children ages 18 months to 5 years, in keeping with the Montessori philosophy.
• Conduct school tours according to Westboro Montessori tour guidelines
• Implement an Orientation program for new families
• Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records related to students
• Keep records pertaining to staff leave
• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts, in adherence to the Montessori philosophy
• Discuss overall program and specific progress of children at staff meetings
• Have knowledge of licensing regulations and utilize that knowledge in the preparation and supervision of programs and management of staff
• Access the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
• Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood assistants

Required languages: English

Education level: Bachelor Degree; Montessori training

Required skills: • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Montessori classroom and knowledge of the Montessori philosophy • Minimum of 2 Years of experience in a managerial/supervisory position • Minimum of 2 Years of experience in conducting administrative tasks, such as data entry for record keeping, file management, calendar management, and initiating and controlling digital and verbal communication and correspondence • Knowledge of Ontario Licensing regulations and the Day Nurseries Act • Knowledge of and experience using Remind app (or similar education applications) , Microsoft office, Google platforms (Google Docs, Google Classroom), Canva (or similar platform for design). • Knowledge of and experience in invoicing related to monthly tuition payments and record keeping of materials and supplies. • Knowledge of and experience in payroll processing and maintaining staff leave/timeout records.
