We are looking for a seasoned Staff Engineer Backend with a focus on AI/ML to join our rapidly growing team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This role will be instrumental in prototyping, designing, and deploying cutting-edge payroll automation solutions. If you are passionate about AI-driven solutions and have experience with LangChain, this is the perfect opportunity for you. This individual will report to the Director of Technology.
Responsibilities Include:
Prototyping and Design: Create AI/ML prototypes for payroll automation, focusing on enhancing accuracy and efficiency.
Model Development: Develop, test, and refine machine learning models tailored to our payroll processing needs.
Collaboration: Work closely with payroll, HR, and IT teams to understand specific requirements and constraints.
Integration: Ensure seamless integration of AI/ML models with existing payroll systems and platforms.
Optimization: Continuously monitor model performance and make necessary adjustments to enhance efficiency.
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to junior engineers and drive best practices in AI/ML development and deployment.
Stay Updated: Continuously monitor the latest trends and advancements in AI/ML to keep our solutions at the forefront of technology.

Required languages: English

Education level: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s or Ph.D. in AI/ML or related areas is a plus.

Required skills: 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML model development and deployment. Strong knowledge of popular AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras. Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and experience with the LangChain platform. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS. Proven experience in deploying AI/ML solutions in real-world scenarios. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in payroll or financial systems automation is a strong plus. Strong understanding of NLP (Natural Language Processing) techniques, especially for data extraction and processing. Exceptional problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
