POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

(13 Month Contract)

Reporting to the Chief Data Officer & Vice President, Health, the Director, Health AI Implementation will lead design and implementation of health AI deployment projects at the pilot and provincial expansion levels to translate Vector Health AI research into clinical environments and practice. The Director will provide strategic leadership for the portfolio and will also be responsible for tactical, on-the-ground work to ensure successful deployment and clinical capacity that incorporates health AI technologies into practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify, cultivate, and implement health AI deployment projects in partnership with health sector organizations and Vector researchers;
Collaboratively engage health service providers in research planning and design, and as knowledge users and champions to drive implementation initiatives;
Co-lead development of machine learning operations tools with Vector’s AI Engineering team to enable trustworthy and safe health AI deployment;
Lead knowledge mobilization and capacity building activities to support health AI deployment in the sector;
Develop a pipeline for potential health AI implementation projects and partnerships;
Develop and implement criteria for project and partner selection, prioritization, and evaluation;
Identify and showcase health AI application exemplars from across the health system to build increased awareness of, and interest in, health AI application;
Contribute to development and implementation of Vector Health strategic/operational plans and budgets; and,
Other related duties as assigned.

KEY SUCCESS MEASURES

Successful Health AI research deployment within the Ontario health system
Measurable improvements in health AI knowledge and adoption amongst health service providers
Expansion of Health AI research deployment across Ontario hospitals and health service providers
Internal and external stakeholder feedback is such that the Vector Health team provides high-quality service and support through effective working relationships.

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Holds, at minimum, a graduate degree in a business, health, technical, or related field;
Minimum five years of experience successfully managing all aspects of large-scale implementation projects (scoping, planning, stakeholder relations, implementation, monitoring, and project closure) to translate health research into clinical practice and/or policy;
In-depth knowledge of the complexities of the Ontario healthcare system and the challenges of implementing practice change with limited resources;
An understanding of the nature of health AI research and its potential to improve health services;
Adept at working with multi-disciplinary stakeholders, prioritizing conflicting needs, managing limited resources, handling matters expeditiously, and following through on tasks to successful completion;
Possesses exceptional verbal and written English communication skills; effective in presenting to a diverse set of stakeholders from the business, health, and technology ecosystem;
Brings a positive attitude and energy, integrity, a sense of humour, and outlook to a corporate culture, and motivated by continuous learning and the desire to make a difference and a real contribution to health AI.
