Job Description: Line Cooks
Position: Contract, Permanent, Full time with overtime as needed
Salary: $18.00/hrs. (min 30 hrs.’/week)
Language: Speak, Read, Write – English
Education: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Experience: 1-2 years of Kitchen experience, Line Cook experience preferred.
Darrell’s has openings for 3 Line Cook positions for the busy Canadian-style cuisine Restaurant located in downtown Halifax. The Cook position is responsible for delivering high-quality food, ensuring consistency in the daily preparation of recipes, and meeting Company standards.
Reporting to the Chef/Management, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues.
Ensure accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks with a strong attention to detail.
Ensure full knowledge of all menu items, Company recipes, as well as Company procedures and policies pertaining to receiving, storage, sanitation, production, preparation and presentation of food.
Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods according to Company standards.
Meet daily production needs, checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure quality standards are met. Chop/cut vegetables and prepare sauces as required.
Set up and stock the workstation with the required supplies for the shift. Maintain and clean-up work area and take care of leftover food using safe food handling techniques.
Prepare food items for guests with food allergies or intolerances.
Review inventory and stock and report shortages to the Chef in a timely manner.
