Job Description
Excel Personnel has been retained by one of our National Clients in a First Nations organization in the Kamloops, BC community to recruit their next Communications Co-ordinator.
The Communications Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to support the Director of Communications in implementing communications strategies and coordinating various initiatives for our First Nations Client. The role involves developing and distributing communications content across multiple platforms, including print, web, and social media, and assisting in effectively delivering external and internal communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Contributing to the development and implementation of materials to align with the communications strategies and work plans for our clients . corporate plan
-Coordinating and facilitating projects and events from a communications perspective
-Assisting in preparing audiovisual materials (slideshow presentations, video, etc.)
-Managing and maintaining clients website content and ensuring information is updated
-Supporting organizational business lines in various communications needs
-Providing editing, formatting and writing support as necessary
-Coordinating French translation of all materials and ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Official Languages Act
-Updating and maintaining existing communications processes and procedures
-Performing routine tasks to support above or as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
-Degree, diploma or certificate in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field
-2+ years experience in a marketing and/or communications role
-Work experience in, or exposure to, Indigenous organizations or First Nations governments is an asset
-Strong aptitude for layout and graphic design
-Adept in various digital platforms and quick software adoption
-Knowledge of graphic file preparation and printing best practices
-Advanced verbal and written communication skills
-Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
-Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and Canva
-Periodic travel within Canada may be required

Salary will vary depending on skills, education and experience, with base salary commencing at $60,000 to $70,000/year plus benefits.
