Wage: $15.00/hr
Employment: Full Time (min. 30 hrs/wk)

Education: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent an asset
Experience: 7 months to 1 year experience in similar or related position
Union Street Cafe is a full-service restaurant and live music venue located in Berwick, Nova Scotia. The Café is looking for a Line Cook to join the team. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality food, ensuring consistency in the daily preparation of recipes that meet Company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Working with specialized cooking equipment, prepare and cook menu items per Company standards, including for guests with food allergies or intolerances.
• Using safe food handling techniques to prepare required quantities of items including prepare vegetables, sauces and meat & vegetarian products as required, as per Company recipes and standards.
• Set up and stock workstation with the required supplies for the shift.
• Maintain inventory of food and stock items and report shortages to Manager in a timely manner.
• Ensure accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks with a strong attention to detail.
• Follow Company procedures and policies, including safety and sanitation policies, pertaining to receiving, storage, sanitation, production, preparation, presentation of food, leftover food, and beverage.
• Follow Company procedures and policies to clean and maintain all work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Consistently offer professional, friendly, and proactive guest service while supporting fellow team members.
• Ensure full knowledge of all menu items.

Summary of Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school or equivalent
• Safe food handling certificates an asset
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Highly responsible & reliable
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Ability to work daytime, evenings, and weekends as required
