The Opportunity
Our Canadian Regulatory Compliance team is currently looking to add a Field Compliance Specialist based in Prince George, BC to support our Coastal GasLink project as well as other work across Canada Gas.

Reporting to the Manager, Canadian Regulatory Compliance and Assurance, this position is responsible for providing technical and business expertise and leadership to lead and support incidents and inspections/audits driven by external regulators. This position will also be the contact responsible for educating and supporting the region on regulatory trends and issues.

What you’ll do
-Manage regulatory inspection and audit activities for external inspections by AER, BCER and CER, and provincial or other federal inspectors if required (This includes TSB in the event of incident response)
-Provide guidance on established regulations, standards, best practices, company policies, procedures, practices and their applicability to the company
-Assist the emergency management team in planning emergency response drills to mimic real-life accidents/incidents, to include the required regulatory reporting and field deployment
-Respond and manage reportable incidents/accidents
-Collaborate with related functional resources and peer Compliance Team Members to identify, establish and support effective company-wide compliance programs
-Implement regulatory initiatives related to standards, processes, and/or procedures
-Identify process improvements and best practices observed in the field or recommended by others, and ensure implementation by working with key stakeholders
-Represent TC Energy in all aspects of regulatory requirements with regulators
-Disseminate information on key issues related to regulatory compliance and be able to communicate this information to senior leadership so informed decisions can be made
-Provide 24/7 on-call support for timely reporting of events and unauthorized activities to AER, CER, BCER and TSB through monitoring Enablon and responding to telephone inquiries for incidents and events that require reporting
-Prepare written reports and information request responses to regulatory authorities, and assisting in the preparation and review of written reports by others to provincial agencies
-Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergency response and incident and unauthorized activity management

Minimum Qualifications
-Requires graduation from a 2- or 3-year Post-Secondary Technical School program or a Degree in Engineering echnology
-8 years of related experience
-Knowledge of energy regulations and operations in the oil and natural gas pipeline industry (in particular BCER and CER)

Preferred Qualifications
-Advanced knowledge of many aspects of pipeline operations including engineering, safety, and compliance

This position requires candidates to:
-Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract (record) for review
-Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated -up to 30% of work schedule)
-Stay overnight away from home base (estimated up 30% of work schedule)
-Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required

Relocation Eligibility: This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program

Required languages: English

Education level: 2- or 3-year Post-Secondary Technical School program or a Degree in Engineering Technology
