Responsibilities

Tasks

– Work directly with Bakers and Bakers Assistants
– Alongside Baking Team,  prepare dough for Pies, Bread, Rolls, Middle Eastern Breads (Saaj, Meat Pies, Naan, Middle Eastern Pizza, etc.) and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders
– Ensure Bakers and Baking Assistants meet output requirements by being organized, having supplies ready for baking with equipment in good working condition
– Responsible for ensuring mix dough and batters have been prepared correctly meeting requirements for quality and quantity
– Requisition/order materials, equipment and supplies
– Alongside Baking Team, bake mixed dough and batters
– Assist Management with production planning and operational improvements
– Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
– Supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff
– Draw up production schedules determining type and quality of goods to produce
– Train staff
– Ensure that the quality of products meets established standards
– Schedule staff
– Inspect kitchen and food service areas
– Operate machinery
– Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment
– Troubleshoot production and operational issues
– Hire and dismiss staff
– Organize and maintain inventory
– Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods
– Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule (and possibly review) activities of workers
– Responsible for the introduction of new products, specifically Middle Eastern Pastries due to high demand
– Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe work environment

Work conditions and physical capabilities

High volume baker department within supermarket having physical demand to meet output of product and customer needs.  Must be able to move quickly, stand for long periods of time, bend, crouch, kneel and continuously walk.  Position provides for sitting, standing and walking throughout the shift.
