Job Description
We are seeking a reliable Pipelayer to join our civil construction team. In this role, you will assist with the installation of underground utility systems, including water, sanitary sewer, storm, and hydro infrastructure, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, works well in a team environment, and is committed to completing work in accordance with project plans and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Load, unload, and move construction materials, tools, and equipment to work areas.
Assist with the installation, alignment, and placement of underground utility systems, including water, sanitary sewer, storm, street lighting, traffic signals, telecommunications, and electrical conduit, in accordance with project drawings and grade specifications.
Assist heavy equipment operators and pipe crew members during excavation, pipe placement, and backfilling activities.
Assist with trench preparation, pipe bedding, backfilling, compaction, and related activities during underground utility installation.
Assist with the installation, assembly, and removal of trench shoring, barricades, and other excavation safety systems.
Operate construction equipment such as tampers, compactors, vibrators, pumps, and other hand and power tools as directed.
Signal and guide heavy equipment operators during excavation and pipe installation activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Inspect, clean, and maintain tools and equipment, and report maintenance or repair requirements.
Remove debris, clean work areas, and perform general construction labour duties to support daily site operations.
Follow company safety policies and procedures, participate in safety meetings, identify workplace hazards, and perform other construction-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Completion of secondary school is an asset.
One year of experience in civil construction, underground utility installation, excavation, or general construction labour.
Experience working safely around heavy equipment and in excavation or trenching environments.
Ability to perform physically demanding work in a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a construction crew.
Knowledge of construction safety practices and the proper use of hand and power tools.
What We Offer
Up to $28.00 per hour, with compensation subject to negotiation based on experience.
An additional 4% of gross earnings in lieu of vacation and statutory holiday pay.
Full-time employment (minimum 33 hours per week).
