The City of New Westminster Community Services team is seeking a Marketing & Community Events Coordinator to lead marketing initiatives and support community events and activations at Anvil Centre. This role develops and delivers marketing campaigns, creates engaging communications, builds new community partnerships, and oversees community events from planning through execution.
Some key responsibilities you will have include:
• Develop, recommend, and implement marketing plans, strategies, and campaigns to promote the wide variety of offerings at Anvil Centre.
• Create, edit, and coordinate print and digital marketing materials, including website content, social media, photography, video, and basic graphic design.
• Manage and maintain social media channels, online presence, photo database, and marketing assets, including capturing photos and videos and maintaining participant consent records.
• Plan, coordinate, and support community events and activations at Anvil Centre, collaborating with staff and event partners to ensure alignment with City policies and procedures.
• Prepare and recommend event and activation budgets; monitor and track budgets.
• Supervise, assign, and support the work of event staff, volunteers, and coordinate the work of event-related contractors, including performers, vendors, graphic designers, photographers, etc.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments, community groups, organizations, and external partners to develop and promote community events and activations, and encourage the use and access to Anvil Centre.
• Conduct community outreach and gather feedback to support continuous improvement of events and Anvil Centre space use.
• Prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence, and other administrative documentation; coordinate and lead marketing meetings as required; participate in team and departmental meetings; and perform a variety of administrative duties related to the work.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
If you have the following characteristics and qualifications, we want to hear from you:
• You have completion of a two-year diploma program in marketing, communications or related discipline, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials and techniques used in the work.
• Considerable knowledge of the regulations, rules and policies governing the work.
• Working knowledge of the organization’s event booking systems (Xpor and Momentus) and related processes.
• Ability to draft and implement marketing plans and strategies, and to provide advice and guidance on marketing, media and promotional methods and techniques.
• Ability to prepare or coordinate the preparation of various print and digital marketing materials and to perform basis graphic design and video editing tasks.
• Ability to develop, recommend and coordinate programming, events, and activations and to support the coordination, oversight and delivery of the same.
• Ability to oversee, assign and check the work of event staff and volunteers and to oversee, direct and coordinate the work of various contractors as it relates to the work.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to build strong community relationships.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external contacts and to collaborate with staff in planning and executing events and programs.
• Ability to prepare and maintains various records, reports and correspondence related to the work and to prepare, recommend and monitor event and activation budgets.
• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
