We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team.

Position Information
• Position: Bookkeeper
• Location: Bedford, Nova Scotia
• Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Wage: $30.00 per hour
• Hours: 30 hours per week
• Location: 600 Bedford Highway, Back Building, Bedford, NS B3M 0P6

Job Duties
• Keep financial records and maintain accounts related to food inventory purchases, wholesale customer sales, supplier invoices, warehouse operating expenses, and restaurant client payments using computerized bookkeeping systems.
• Post accounting entries for inventory purchases and wholesale sales transactions, reconcile bank records and supplier statements, maintain general ledgers, and assist with monthly financial reporting.
• Prepare payments for warehouse staff wages, food suppliers, refrigeration utilities, warehouse rent, delivery expenses, and tax-related operating costs.
• Complete and submit GST/HST filings, payroll remittances, workers’ compensation forms, and other government documents related to wholesale food distribution operations.
• Prepare bookkeeping records and organize purchase invoices, sales invoices, payment receipts, and operating expense documents for year-end tax filing and management review.
• Prepare financial and inventory cost reports related to food purchases, wholesale sales, warehouse expenses, delivery costs, and monthly operating performance.
• Prepare and issue sales invoices to restaurant and commercial clients and record incoming customer payments.
• Monitor customer account balances and follow up on overdue invoices and outstanding payments from wholesale clients.
• Maintain organized records of inventory purchase invoices, supplier contracts, warehouse expense documents, and delivery receipts for accounting review and audit purposes.
• Assist in tracking inventory-related costs and verifying purchase records against supplier delivery documents.

Job Requirements
• Completion of a college diploma or bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting-related work experience required.
• Previous work experience in wholesale, food distribution, warehouse, inventory, or restaurant industries is considered an asset.
• Previous work experience in Halifax or surrounding areas is considered an asset.
• Experience using computerized accounting and bookkeeping systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar software is preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll processing, GST/HST filing, accounts payable/accounts receivable, and general accounting procedures.
• Basic to intermediate English communication skills required.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced wholesale distribution environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
