Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Live-in Caregiver to assist with an adult female with mental disabilities including Autism at our home located in Surrey, BC. This is a full-time, permanent position. Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis; while a live-in caregiver is preferred, this is not a condition of employment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include working with an adult female with mental disabilities and Autism; providing personal support such as bathing, personal hygiene, dressing and undressing and day to day life skills; undertaking laundry and light housekeeping duties; supervise and assist with swimming activities on a weekly basis (special needs therapy requirement); assist with medication management, including reminders and assistance as directed; attending to the emotional well-being and maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home.

Requirements

Completion of high school is required. Must have completed a related training program or have the equivalent of at least one year experience working with a person with developmental disabilities and Autism. Must have strong English communication (reading, writing, speaking) skills and First Aid/CPR certification. Must be able to pass a Criminal Records Check and be eligible for a valid Class 5 drivers licence. Swimming experience is preferred. Must be willing to work flexible hours during the week and weekend to accommodate parents work schedules.

Salary & Benefits

The position pays $24.50 per hour, based on a 40 hour work week. Benefits include free accommodation (if desired), medical insurance, two days off per week (Monday and Tuesday) and be entitled to 4% paid annual vacation.
