Automotive Service Mechanics Supervisor

$38.46/hour
Permanent | Full-time (40 hours/week)

Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Automotive Service Mechanics Supervisor who enjoys leading a team while staying hands-on with diagnostics and repairs.

In this role, you’ll oversee daily shop operations, support technicians, and ensure all vehicles and equipment are serviced safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You’ll work with a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment while helping drive productivity, quality, and team development.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise automotive technicians, apprentices, and labourers across multiple work areas
Coordinate and schedule daily shop activities to meet production targets
Lead the team to maintain efficiency, safety, and high service standards
Diagnose and repair complex automotive issues using advanced diagnostic tools
Support troubleshooting and perform hands-on repairs when needed
Oversee routine maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires, fluid services)
Provide technical guidance to improve repair quality and productivity
Train team members or coordinate training opportunities
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Maintain safe use of tools, equipment, and workspace
Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic systems
Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety and compliance
Maintain accurate service and materials records
Order parts, materials, and equipment as needed
Communicate clearly with team members and customers about repairs and timelines
Travel between job sites (Hamilton, Niagara, Nanticoke) for service calls
Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call as required
Requirements

College diploma in Automotive Technology or related field (preferred)
3 to less than 5 years of automotive or mechanical experience
Previous supervisory or leadership experience (preferred)
Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and repair across multiple makes/models
Experience with heavy equipment (e.g., highway tractors, loaders, excavators)
Proficiency with diagnostic and electronic testing tools
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams
Valid driver’s licence
Own tools and safety equipment (steel-toed boots, safety glasses/goggles)
Physically capable of demanding work (lifting, outdoor conditions, weather exposure)
Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy, and dusty environment
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Authorized to work in Canada
Basic security clearance
