POSITION SUMMARY

The Vector Institute is seeking a Project Manager, Technology Projects, to join the team in Toronto, working on making Canada a centre of expertise for AI in the world.

As a key partner within the business technology work stream, you will drive critical technical initiatives while managing day-to-day operational changes. The Project Manager will participate in shaping security and data policy, and extend Vector’s business IT and AI capacities to ensure the technology infrastructure supports its mission effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead end-to-end technology selection, procurement, and implementation projects from requirements gathering through deployment;
Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies for overlapping technology initiatives;
Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations understanding that not-for-profit organizations require solutions that maximize impact while managing resource constraints;
Oversee multiple concurrent change management projects, ensuring minimal operational disruption;
Implement standardized project management methodologies and governance frameworks;
Track project performance metrics, budgets, and deliverables across diverse technology initiatives;
Facilitate stakeholder communication and manage expectations across all organizational levels;
Define, prioritize, and communicate business requirements; develop business cases and recommendations for process improvements, system alterations, and best-fit practices;
Conduct business process analysis and mapping; create procedural documentation reflecting optimized workflows;
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand evolving technology needs;
Represent the technology work stream in organizational planning and strategic discussions; and,
Other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Internal and external stakeholder feedback is such that the Business Computing team provides high-quality service and support through effective working relationships.

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Post-secondary diploma, preference for bachelor’s degree (or higher), in business or a technical field;
3+ years of relevant project management experience, with demonstrated success managing complex technology implementations;
Proven track record of managing 2-4 concurrent projects of varying scope and complexity;
Experience with technology procurement cycles, vendor management, and contract negotiations;
Background in change management principles and organizational transformation initiatives;
Experience with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid approaches);
Knowledge of IT infrastructure, security protocols, and system integration principles;
Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills; effective in presenting to a diverse set of stakeholders in the business and technology ecosystem;
Possesses superior organizational abilities with proven capability to prioritize and manage competing demands;
Adept at building and effectively communicating with multidisciplinary project teams, prioritizing conflicting needs, managing limited resources, handling matters expeditiously, and following through on tasks to successful completion; and,
Demonstrates problem-solving acumen and ability to navigate complex technical and organizational challenges, including strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

TOTAL REWARDS: The expected salary for this position will be $64,400 – $80,500 per year, plus benefits if applicable. The final salary offer will reflect the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, in alignment with the Vector Institute’s Compensation Policy and may differ from above.
