We are currently seeking Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our team. Successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of freight on long-haul routes throughout Canada only. No US or Cross-Border work.
Please only apply if you are looking for Western Canada work only and comfortable for being away from home for up to 5 nights at a time.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
– Operate and drive tractor-trailer units to safely and efficiently transport goods and materials across Canada.
– Maintain ongoing and effective communication with the central dispatcher, customers, and others regarding permits, routes, and fuel stops.
– Complete all required daily paperwork including freight bills, load sheets, and electronic log books.
– Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections and adjustments, including preventive maintenance, tire chain-ups, brake adjustments, and minor on-road repairs as needed.
– Oversee the condition of the vehicle and all cargo; ensure the safe and timely delivery of all freight.
– Drive trucks to scales as required and ensure compliance with weight regulations.
– Ensure all required documentation and permits are in order at all times during transport operations.
– Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
– Manually chain up articulated trucks with winter-driving chains
Skills Requirements:
Education: No Minimum Education Requirements
Work Experience: A minimum of 6 months of verifiable Class 1 truck driving experience is required
Skills/Licensing:
– Valid BC Class 1 Commercial Driver’s Licence
– Valid Air Brake endorsement
– Clean driver’s abstract with no serious violations
– Demonstrable knowledge of transportation regulations, logbooks, and Hours of Service requirements
– Demonstrable ability to safely and properly place winter-driving chains on an articulated truck
Language of Work: English, both written and spoken
Candidates must attend and pass an in-person road test at the company’s headquarters in Langley, BC as part of the assessment process. Candidates are also required to complete a technical assessment to demonstrate their knowledge of Federal Hours of Service regulations and safe operating practices.
Job Details:
Wage: $37.00/hour
Benefits: Extended Health Benefits (including Dental)
Hours Per Week: 40 to 60 hours per week
Terms of Employment: Full-Time, Permanent
Location of Work: Based out of and reporting to 19675 98 Avenue, Langley, BC, V1M 2X5; drivers will be required to commence and end trips from the Langley terminal and travel throughout Canada.
