Position Summary
Grove Lumber, established in 1988 and headquartered in Spruce Grove, Alberta, is an established manufacturer of high-quality lumber and other building materials serving industrial, commercial, and residential markets. Our company is recognized for its broad product selection, consistent quality, and commitment to sustainable forestry practices.

We are seeking a sawmill operator to support our production activities and uphold our product quality and service standards. This position involves operating and maintaining sawmill equipment, monitoring production quality, and ensuring safe, efficient throughput in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities
• Assess and examine lumber to determine size, condition, quality and other characteristics to decide the most efficient cuts and patterns.
• Operate, monitor, and control equipment including industrial saws, bump rollcase conveyor, power tools to resize, shape, and trim lumber.
• Set up the machines and support changeovers using various tools.
• Clean and perform routine maintenance including lubricating machine parts.
• Operate machines/equipment including forklifts to load and unload products, move materials between workstations and stack the lumber.
• Data entry and recording of production information and inventory as required by the foreman/manager.
• Maintain safety protocols and guidelines set by the company.
• Perform general labour duties, including housekeeping and general cleanup.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and meet production targets.

Qualifications & Skills
• At least 6 months’ experience in handling industrial saws and tools
• Technical ability to operate, monitor, and control equipment mentioned
• Experience in performing routine maintenance, lubrication, and troubleshooting of mechanical issues.
• Physical stamina; job requires standing for long periods, walking, lifting/pushing/pulling, working in varied temperatures
• Commitment to safety; adherence to safety regulations and guidelines
• Completion of secondary school
• Language skills – English
• Commitment to quality
• Organized
• Teamplayer
• Able to handle a fast-paced environment
• Mechanical, electronic or electrical background is an advantage

Position Structure & Reporting
• Reports directly to the Yard Foreman
• Works closely with the other production employees

Compensation Package
• Rate: $36/hr
• Overtime: 1.5 after 44 hours/week
• Vacation pay: per Alberta employment standards
• Benefits package after 90 day-probation
• Benefits package includes dental and vision
