The Duncan Academy is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Web Developer to design, develop, and maintain its institutional website and related digital platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience while supporting the Academy’s recruitment, communication, and administrative objectives.

• Benefit: 4% vacation pay
Vacation of 2 weeks per year

Job Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, update, test, and maintain the Academy’s official website, as well as dedicated websites for affiliated organizations and their related activities, serving both educational and promotional purposes
• Develop, manage, and maintain databases to securely store and handle student, client, and faculty data
• Lead front-end development and development-driven visual implementation, ensuring cohesive, engaging, and user-friendly experiences across all websites
• Apply strong aesthetic judgment and UI/UX principles to translate functional and technical requirements into effective visual layouts and interactive experiences
• Create and implement web animations and interactive elements to enhance usability and engagement for students and visitors
• Independently design, adapt, and produce required web assets (including visual elements, graphics, and basic illustrations) as part of the front-end development workflow
• Write, modify, integrate, and test web-based software code
• Analyze technical requirements and user needs in collaboration with academic, administrative, marketing, and admissions teams
• Ensure website compatibility, usability, performance, and responsiveness across browsers, devices, and platforms
• Monitor website performance, uptime, and loading speed, and implement optimization solutions
• Perform regular system updates, backups, and content revisions
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical, functional, and usability issues
• Implement web security best practices and maintain data protection standards
• Assist with web architecture planning and site structure design
• Maintain technical documentation and system records
• Provide technical support and CMS guidance to internal staff as needed

Job requirements:
• Language: English
• Education: A college diploma in Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related field
• Work Experience: at least 1 year of related work experience
• Skills and knowledge preferred:
1) Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and backend frameworks
2) Experience with CMS platforms (WordPress or similar)
3) Understanding of UX/UI principles and front-end visual implementation within the development context
4) Familiarity with web security standards and SEO best practices
5) Demonstrated ability to create, refine, and manage web assets; background in art, design, or visual media is a strong asset
6) Ability to independently handle both web development tasks and front-end visual execution without dedicated web designer assistance
7) Ability to learn and adapt to new frameworks and technologies in a fast-paced environment
